Policy counsel and fashion law professor Kenya Wiley penned an opinion piece for WWD on racial diversity in fashion in a post-affirmative action era. As Kenya stated in her opinion piece, race still presents barriers to how people live out their daily lives, and these disparities are magnified for talent studying and working in fashion and other creative industries.
Fashion plays a major role in how all people are represented and valued, not just here in America, but everywhere. Ending affirmative action will narrow the lens through which many view the world.
Kenya previously served as a director for the Motion Picture Association’s legal department—where she designed and implemented the Association’s academic outreach program for colleges and law schools.
